What Are Career Academies?
Career Academies are designed to prepare students for both college and careers. They are "schools within a school" that link students with peers, teachers, community partners, and businesses in a structured environment that fosters academic success. The Career Academy Concept has three key elements:
1. A Small Learning Community (SLC)
2. A college-prep sequential curriculum with a career theme
3. An advisory board that forges partnerships with employers, higher education institutions, and the community

Aviation/STREAM Academy (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts and Math) Spearheaded by the Director of Vocational Education and CTE, the Academy curriculum tracks give students an opportunity to explore three different concentrations tracks including Computer Programming, Networking and Telecommunications, and Aviation and Engineering including challenging coursework including Honors Electrical Engineering, Honors Introduction to Flight, Honors Aeronautical Knowledge, and Honors Aviation Weather. Rooted in aviation, Egg Harbor Township is home to Spirit/JetBlue Airlines at Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), the FAA William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Administration Tech Center, the NJ Air National Guard 177th Fighter Wing, United States Coast Guard Air Station/Atlantic City, and the Transportation Security Agency Federal Air Marshal National Training Center.
In order to help fill the nationwide shortage of trained pilots and to expose the next generation to exciting attainable careers in aviation, the District is committed to creating a
four-year AvSTEAM Flight and Aviation Academy, establishing a clear pathway for students to attain up to 30 dual and concurrent college credits in Aviation Studies, and setting them on the fast track to earning an Associate's Degree in Aviation Studies within one year of graduating high school. The program will not only enhance the Early College High School Model agreement initiated with Atlantic Cape Community College in 2019, but will also align with the college's Aviation Studies degree program, and incentivize students to continue their education upon graduation.
